The cast will also include Jason Merrells (Waterloo Road Emerdale), Nicola Stephenson (All At Sea, Holby), and Peter Ferdinand (A Field, Doctor Who, England), and filming will begin today; Monday, October 6th. This four part TV series tells the story of a married couple: former detective Robert (played by Christopher Ecclestone) and teacher Katie (played by Martha Tommason), at the request of their close friend and police officer Mark (played by Paterson Joseph), turn their remote guesthouse into a safe home. Their first "guests" in the safe house were a family who were worried about their own safety after being violently attacked by someone claiming to know them. Because Robert protects this family, it reignites the fear and anxiety of a terrible night 18 months ago when he was protecting a celebrity witness who was about to testify against her mafia husband. Unexpectedly, he was shot and she was also killed. As a result of managing the safe house, Robert re questioned the incident and exposed a series of lies. The inspiration for "Safe House" comes from a real couple, and it is a unique character driven drama created and written by Michael Crompton ("Kidnapping and Extortion", "Carrie's War"), directed by award-winning Marc Evans ("The Hinterland", "Collision"), and produced by Andrew Benson ("Counterattack", "Mad Dog"). The film was jointly developed by Paula Cuddy and Jill Green, the executive producers of "Eleven Hours of the Movie". Safe House "may be a returnable series from ITV and 11th Hour Films, commissioned by ITV Drama Director Steve November and Drama Director Victoria Fea. We are pleased to commission Jill Green and Eleventh Hour Film Company to produce 'Safe House'. This is a captivating four episode television series starring Michael Crompton, with exciting characters and intricate plot twists that keep you guessing until the end, "said Jill Green (" Foyle's War, "" Collision, "" The Americans ")."
