This movie tells the story of the first class of students in a famous leadership center in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo; The most unsuitable place in the world to be a woman; These women have experienced indescribable violence triggered by 20 years of war driven by colonialism and greed. In this movie, they teamed up with the three founders of the center: Dr. Denis Mukwege (nominee for the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize), radical playwright and activist Eve Ensler (Vaginal Monster), and human rights activist Christine Schuler Descryver to find a way to create meaning in their lives, even if everything meaningful to them has long been stripped away. In this ultimately uplifting movie, we witness the tremendous resilience of these women in transforming their disasters into powerful forms of leadership in the country they love.
